Stout (shoulder) was only active as an emergency depth option during Sunday's loss to the Falcons, David Lombardi of SFStandard.com reported Monday.
Coach Kyle Shanahan said that Stout was only going to enter the game in an emergency for the 49ers' secondary. The team hopes the bye week will allow Stout's shoulder sprain to fully heal ahead of the Week 9 showdown with the Raiders.
