Smith (undisclosed) was waived from injured reserve by the Panthers with an injury settlement Thursday, Kassidy Hill of the team's official website reports.
Smith reverted to injured reserve with Carolina on Wednesday, and as a result, he was set to miss the entirety of the 2026 campaign. Now that he has reached a settlement with the Panthers, he will be able to pass a physical and play with a new squad this season.
