Rosas signed a reserve/future contract with the Lions on Tuesday, Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press reports.
Once Austin Seibert (hip) was shelved midway through last season, Detroit replaced him with Riley Patterson and Rosas, who got the start in Seibert's first absence but ended up watching Patterson take over kicking duties for the final seven games of the year. However, with special teams coordinator Dave Fipp noncommittal about the status of the position entering 2022, it seems like all three kickers could have a chance to win the starting job this offseason. Whereas Rosas and Patterson are on cheap deals, Detroit could save almost $1 million against the cap by letting Seibert walk.
