Fields (ribs) isn't expected to start Thursday's game at Detroit, yielding the offense to Andy Dalton, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
Fields was knocked out of this past Sunday's contest against the Ravens due to a rib injury and was unable to return. Afterward, he paid a visit to the hospital to have his ribs and spleen examined. While he primarily appears to be dealing with bruised ribs, Fields won't have enough time to gain clearance to play on a short week of prep. As evidence, he didn't participate in Monday's walkthrough, and it remains to be seen if he'll be active at all Thursday. Stepping in for Fields will be Dalton, who completed 11 of 23 passes for 201 yards and two touchdowns in less than a half of work Sunday.
