Smith signed a two-year contract worth up to $3 million Saturday, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.

Smith was set to be a restricted free agent, but the two sides have agreed to a deal. The 23-year-old linebacker played just 47 defensive snaps over 12 games in 2020, so most of his value comes on special teams. The Bills may have to let Matt Milano go, and Smith could contribute more defensively if that's the case, at least in the short term.
