Shakir caught his only target for five yards in Saturday's 9-3 preseason win over the Steelers.
It was expected that Shakir would be catching passes from Josh Allen throughout most of the first half, though Allen ultimately sat -- likely due to wet field conditions. Even surrounded by the first-team offense, Mitch Trubisky failed to move the ball down the field, causing Shakir and all primary pass catchers to post a muted stat line. Shakir worked primarily in the slot with Keon Coleman and Mack Hollins out wide, though Curtis Samuel did not suit up, which will skew perceived roles heading into the final week of preseason action.
