Taylor completed 18 of 30 passes for 297 yards with three touchdowns and an interception in Thursday's 37-31 loss to the Jets. He also gained 25 yards on two rushes.
After throwing for a meager 111 yards in a miserable opener against the Ravens, Taylor bounced back in what was a rather unexpected shootout. The 297 passing yards served as a career best, while the three touchdowns equaled his high-water mark in that category, a number that he also reached in four different games last season. Taylor had success downfield, notably scorching Darrell Revis for an 84-yard touchdown bomb to Marquise Goodwin and coming back to connect with Greg Salas for a 71-yard score early in the third quarter. The Virginia Tech product was also able to shake off a helmet-to-helmet hit late in the third quarter that caused him to leave the game to be evaluated for a concussion and returned to lead a late rally that included an 18-yard touchdown pass to Mike Gillislee with 1:17 remaining. Despite the Bills now being in an 0-2 hole, Taylor's performance clearly was a bright spot on a disappointing night.
