Mayfield (shoulder) underwent an MRI on Monday, Mary Kay Cabot of The Cleveland Plain Dealer reports.
Mayfield said Sunday that he expects to play Thursday against the Broncos after he aggravated the injury to his left (non-throwing) shoulder in Sunday's loss to the Cardinals. However, coach Kevin Stefanski is waiting on the results of the quarterback's MRI before determining whether the 26-year-old will be able to suit up Week 7. If Mayfield is held out against Denver, Case Keenum would take over in the primetime matchup.
