Winston completed 36 of 58 passes for 405 yards with three touchdowns and an interception in Sunday's 37-32 loss to the Rams. He also gained 13 yards on four rushes and lost a fumble on a strip sack that was returned for a touchdown.
The 2015 first overall pick set career highs in completions, attempts and yards in the marathon contest, but ultimately came up short when it counted most. Following an extended weather delay due to lightning in the area, Winston helped lead the Bucs down the field from their own 44 to the Rams' 15 in the closing minutes before firing four consecutive incompletions and then inexplicably taking a sack on the final play instead of throwing into the end zone. Winston's two turnovers were also costly, with his interception setting up one of Todd Gurley's two touchdown runs and his fumble getting returned 77 yards by Ethan Westbrooks for a touchdown. On the positive side, he encouragingly made use of his full array of weapons, completing passes to eight different receivers. The former Seminole will try to bounce back against what should be one of his toughest challenges of the season when he and the Bucs take on the Broncos in Week 4.
