Cardinals' Kyler Murray: Unlikely to be ready for Week 1
Cardinals head coach Kliff Kingsbury said Wednesday that Murray (knee) "probably" won't be ready for Week 1 of the 2023 season, Josh Weinfuss of ESPN.com reports.
After sustaining a season-ending knee injury Dec. 12, Murray underwent surgery Tuesday to repair a torn ACL as well as his meniscus. It's not clear that Kingsbury will still be the team's coach beyond January, but he noted that he's been in contact with Murray, whose surgery went according to plan. The 25-year-old could be looking at a slightly longer timeline than the norm for quarterbacks returning from ACL tears, as most of the players that made it back for Week 1 after late-season injuries suffered clean tears without additional damage like Murray's meniscus. That said, it's still early in the process, making it too early to rule out Murray for the start of the 2023 season.
