Jones completed nine of 13 attempts for 74 yards and interception during Saturday's preseason win over the Rams.
Jones saw plenty of time at quarterback, with Philip Rivers playing until the end of the first quarter, and nominal backup Kellen Clemens sitting out Saturday's contest to allow the former Ohio State product additional reps. The result was fairly encouraging, with Jones looking the most comfortable in the pocket since joining the Chargers just prior to training camp. Given Clemens' grasp of the playbook and veteran poise, it seems unlikely that Jones will be able to unseat the 34-year-old for the backup job. But if nothing else, the allure of Jones' potential may be enough to earn a spot on the final 53-man roster.
