Chargers head coach Brandon Staley said Harris was placed on the reserve/COVID-19 list as a close contact of receiver Keenan Allen, who tested positive for the virus Monday, ESPN.com reports.
Staley's acknowledgement that Harris is a close contact suggests the cornerback is unvaccinated, as vaccinated players are placed on the list only as a result of testing positive. Per the NFL's protocols for unvaccinated close contacts, Harris will be required to test negative for five days before he's eligible to rejoin the Chargers. Assuming the five-day count began Monday when Allen tested positive, Harris would be able to join the Chargers on Saturday, which would then give him a chance to be available for the team's Week 14 game against the Giants on Sunday.
