Herbert will utilize a boot on his right foot for approximately two weeks after he was diagnosed Wednesday with a plantar fascia injury, but the Chargers are optimistic he'll be ready for the start of the season.
It sounds like Herbert will miss the rest of training camp and probably the preseason, with his time confined to the boot followed by a "graduated return to play protocol," per the Chargers' official twitter account. Easton Stick figures to get a majority of first-team QB reps in the meantime, and Herbert's health becomes one of the top football stories of the summer.
