The Commanders extended a contract tender to Ismael on Sunday, Nicki Jhabvala of The Washington Post reports.
Ismael appeared in 10 games for Washington last year, including starts in four of the last five games of the season. However, he should enter the 2022 season in a reserve role and likely will have to compete for a spot on the final roster.
