Jarwin (hip) was designated to return from injured reserve Tuesday.
The transaction opens up a 21-day window for the Cowboys to evaluate Jarwin in practice before either adding him to the 53-man roster or keeping him on IR for the remainder of the season. Before he was sidelined following Week 8 with a hip injury, Jarwin appeared in seven games and caught 10 of 15 targets for 90 yards and two scores while working as the No. 2 tight end behind Dalton Schultz. If he's able to demonstrate good health in practices Tuesday through Thursday, Jarwin could be activated from IR and suit up in Saturday's regular-season finale with the Eagles. Dallas would still have the opportunity to bring Jarwin back for the postseason even if he's not ready to go for Week 18.
