Jarwin isn't expected to be available for the start of the 2022 campaign after he recently underwent hip surgery, Michael Gehlken of The Dallas Morning News reports.
Jarwin's procedure is usually reserved for hockey and basketball players, and the surgery is uncommon among active NFL players. While the Cowboys are optimistic in his ability to recover, he's expected to carry a timetable of 6-to-8 months before he's cleared to return, Clarence E. Hill Jr. of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports. As a result, the team could choose to restructure his contract or cut him during the offseason. Dalton Schultz is slated to become an unrestricted free agent in mid-March, so the Cowboys could make a push to bring him back or give him the franchise tag.
