Prescott recently had $6.25 million of his 2021 base salary converted into a signing bonus, creating an extra $5 million in cap space for the Cowboys, The Dallas Morning News reports.

Despite the fact Prescott just signed his new four-year, $160 million contract in March, Dallas is already tinkering with the structure of the deal. The team isn't expected to use the cap space right away but will instead likely carry it forward to 2022 -- a bookkeeping move which could help soften the blow of the dead money on Jaylon Smith's contract, if the team elects to cut him by next spring.
