Cowboys' Dak Prescott: Says he's ready for regular season

Prescott said after Thursday's joint practice with the Rams that he feels ready for the regular season, Jon Machota and Saad Yousef of The Athletic report. "I'm going into Year 9, I've had a lot of experience," the quarterback said Thursday afternoon. "I think all of that carries into my confidence to say I could play a game right now. Part of me wishes that (practice) was a game... I'm ready to play and get after it."

The veteran quarterback still has an unsettled contract situation as he heads into the final year of his current deal and possible free agency in 2025, but Prescott hasn't seemed distracted in training camp, even as the Cowboys' offense also deals with CeeDee Lamb's holdout. Prescott instead leaned heavily on Brandin Cooks during Thursday's joint practice while also looking frequently for Jalen Tolbert and tight end Jake Ferguson. Prescott may not see any action at all this preseason, but that lack of game reps shouldn't be an issue once a Week 1 trip to Cleveland rolls around.
