The Chargers waived/injured Shepherd (undisclosed) on Tuesday, per the NFL's transaction log.
Shepherd will end up on Los Angeles' injured reserve assuming he clears waivers. The nature of his health issue remains unclear, but if Shepherd does revert to IR, he'll be forced to miss the entire 2023 season, barring an injury settlement.
