Fitzpatrick signed with the Steelers' practice squad Wednesday, Teresa Varley of the team's official site reports.
Fitzpatrick was only gone from the franchise for about 48 hours before returning. The Louisville product was previously on the team's 53-man roster but only suited up for one game, Week 4 against Houston, before being waived Monday.
