Tannehill completed 32 of 45 passes for 389 yards with two touchdowns and two interceptions in Sunday's 31-24 loss to the Patriots. He also gained 35 yards on six rushes and lost a fumble but recovered.
Although his final stat line was impressive, it belied the extremely cold start Tannehill had on the afternoon. He failed to complete a pass until the second quarter, which played a key role in a 24-3 halftime deficit for the Dolphins. Tannehill began to find his rhythm in the third quarter, connecting with Kenny Stills for a 24-yard score and then coming back in the final period for a 12-yard touchdown strike to Jordan Cameron. In all, he completed 20 of first 21 pass attempts in the second half, but was intercepted in the end zone on a last-gasp heave on fourth down at the Patriots' 29-yard line with two seconds remaining. While his overall numbers and the fact that he found Jarvis Landry a total of 10 times on the afternoon were certainly encouraging, Tannehill and the Dolphins are already in the hot seat heading into their home opener against the Browns in Week 3.
