The Dolphins placed Tagovailoa (concussion) on injured reserve Tuesday.

As a result of the transaction, Tagovailoa will miss at least the next four games, and with the Dolphins holding a Week 6 bye, the quarterback won't be eligible for activation until after Week 7. Tagovailoa remains without an official timeline to rejoin the Dolphins, and he'll meet with outside neurologists this week. He has suffered four documented concussions in the past five years, and though he reportedly has no plans to retire from football, he'll need to clear all five steps of the NFL's concussion protocol before returning. The Dolphins signed Tyler Huntley off the Ravens' practice squad to replace Tagovailoa on the 53-man roster, but Skylar Thompson will step in as Miami's starting quarterback Sunday in Seattle.
