Minshew could be in line to earn a spot start Sunday at the Jets with Jalen Hurts (ankle) trending toward inactive status, independent reported Derrick Gunn reports.

Hurts came out of a Week 12 loss to the Giants with a sore left ankle and proceeded to log limited practices Wednesday through Friday, splitting first-team reps with Minshew in the process, per Jeff McLane of The Philadelphia Inquirer. The contingency plan set up Minshew to be the Eagles' No. 1 quarterback if Hurts was unable to go, and that scenario seems as if it'll come to pass. The Eagles will confirm as much approximately 90 minutes before Sunday's 1 p.m. ET kickoff. While Minshew has only made one brief appearance with the Eagles back in Week 8 -- he completed both passes for 11 yards -- he previously averaged 240.4 passing yards per game, tossed 37 touchdowns versus 11 interceptions and racked up 497 yards and one score on the ground in 23 games (20 starts) for the Jaguars.
