Hurts (ankle) isn't expected to play in Sunday's road game against the Jets, NFL reporter Derrick Gunn reports.

Hurts emerged from a Week 12 loss to the Giants with a sore left ankle, and both the quarterback and coach Nick Sirianni initially were confident he'd be able to gut it out and play this weekend. While he logged limited sessions Wednesday through Friday, Hurts split first-team reps with backup Gardner Minshew, according to Jeff McLane of The Philadelphia Inquirer. Ultimately, the Eagles appear poised to keep an eye toward the future and not risk a more significant injury with Hurts, allowing Minshew to be the primary signal-caller Sunday. Such a decision will be confirmed about 90 minutes before the 1:00 p.m. ET kickoff.
