The 49ers released Apple on Sunday.
Apple signed a reserve deal with the team in late January after serving on the practice squad in 2025. The cornerback was elevated for two regular-season games and contributed primarily as a special-teams fill-in. The 30-year-old is now a free agent, able to sign with any team.
