The Falcons designated Williams (ankle) for return to practice from their injured reserve list Thursday, per the NFL's transaction log.
Per Tori McElhaney of the team's official site, Williams was a limited participant at practice Thursday. The transaction opens a 21-day window during which Atlanta can take Williams off IR, after which point he'd be required to stay there for the remainder of the campaign.
