Giants' Daniel Jones: Set to play in second preseason game
Giants head coach Brian Daboll said that Jones will likely play in Saturday's preseason game against the Texans, Ryan Dunleavy of the New York Post reports.
Jones received full medical clearance ahead of training camp after completing his recovery from November surgery to repair an ACL tear, but the Giants nonetheless chose to hold him out of their 14-3 win over the Lions in the preseason opener Thursday. No. 2 quarterback Drew Lock received the start and suffered a hip injury that will keep him from suiting up in Houston, so Tommy DeVito now stands to operate as the top backup to Jones on Saturday. Daboll didn't go into specifics regarding how long Jones might stay in the game versus the Texans, but the 27-year-old signal-caller should at least get a series or two.
