Schmitz will not return to Saturday's preseason game against the Jets due to an ankle injury, Dan Salomone of the Giants' official site reports.
Schmitz sustained the injury on an unsuccessful fourth-and-short play, though he indicated to the trainer that he was fine while walking to the sidelines, per Jordan Raanan of ESPN.com. Schmitz is projected to be the starting center for the Giants in 2024, and while he won't return Saturday, it appears the 2023 second-round pick has avoided serious injury.
