Tretter will be released by the Browns on Tuesday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
Tretter's release will clear $8.2 million in cap space for the Browns, but losing one of the more reliable centers in the league is also a notable blow for a run-first offense. The transaction appears to open the door for 2020 fifth-round pick Nick Harris to start at center in 2022. Tretter, whose only missed game in the last five years came when he landed in the COVID-19 protocols, will have to play his age-31 season in a new uniform.
