Coach Robert Saleh indicated Tuesday that he doesn't think Rodgers will play during the preseason, Al Iannazzone of Newsday reports.
Rodgers won't see action in either of the Jets' first two preseason contests, while Rich Cimini of ESPN.com relays that the coach's instinct at this time is to not play the veteran QB in the team's Aug. 24 preseason finale against the Giants either. Given the fact that Rodgers is returning from an Achilles injury, it's not surprising that caution is being exercised. The 40-year-old is still on track to helm New York's offense in Week 1 against the 49ers.
