Petty (knee) suffered a Grade 1 MCL sprain and still hopes to play in Thursday's preseason finale against Philadelphia, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.

This was probably the best-case scenario for the injury Petty suffered during Saturday's preseason game against the Giants. He completed 15 of 18 passes for 250 yards and three touchdowns in the contest, making a strong case to serve as the No. 2 quarterback behind likely starter Josh McCown. Meanwhile, Christian Hackenberg tossed a pair of pick-sixes while completing 12 of 21 passes for 126 yards and a touchdown.
