The Jets placed Siemian (ankle) on injured reserve Wednesday, Brian Costello of the New York Post reports.
Siemian was ruled out for the season Tuesday after an MRI revealed that he sustained ligament damage to his ankle that would make surgery a necessity. By moving Siemian to IR, the Jets will free up a spot on the roster for David Fales, who will back up new starting quarterback Luke Falk in Sunday's game against the Patriots.
