Hyder was signed to the Texans' practice squad on Tuesday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.
Hyder, 32, was released by the 49ers last week. He rejoins head coach DeMeco Ryans, who previously served as Hyder's defensive coordinator in San Francisco.
