Simmons (undisclosed) was waived by the Cardinals with an injury designation Monday, Josh Weinfuss of ESPN.com reports.
Simmons will revert to IR upon clearing waivers and be forced to miss the season unless he reaches an injury settlement with the team. The 26-year-old spent most of last season on the team's practice squad and was working to earn a spot on the 53-man roster.
