Rountree signed with the Texans' practice squad Wednesday.
Rountree was unable to make Houston's 53-man roster out of training camp but ultimately was able to stay with the organization. The 24-year-old will add depth to the backfield while the Texans carry Dameon Pierce, Devin Singletary, Mike Boone and Dare Ogunbowale on the roster.
