The Steelers waived Wentz on Saturday, Brooke Pryor of ESPN.com reports.

Wentz initially signed with Seattle as an undrafted free agent in May but was cut in June and subsequently latched on with Pittsburgh. The Kansas product played in all three of the Steelers' preseason games but didn't do much, catching one of four targets for nine yards. Wentz could get a spot on the Steelers' practice squad in the likely scenario that he passes through waivers unclaimed.
