In Sunday's win over the Bears, Stafford suffered what ESPN's Michael Rothstein describes as "a PIP joint dislocation (proximal interphalangeal joint dislocation) ," as well as torn ligaments in the middle finger of his throwing hand.
Per the report, Stafford will be required to play the rest of the season with a glove covering his injured finger. On the plus side, there's no mention of the issue being something that might prevent the QB from playing down the stretch, as the Lions chase a playoff spot. Stafford, who acknowledged that the issue affected his grip and throwing velocity Sunday, will now have some time for the injury settle down, while he and the team's training staff determine how to best manage it in the coming weeks.
