Mariani has been released by the Bears, Brad Biggs of the Chicago Tribune reports.
Mariani had plenty of opportunity to impress the coaching staff as a slot receiver with Eddie Royal (concussion) missing all four preseason games, but failed to do so. He'll try to find work elsewhere as a kick returner.
