Cottrell was signed to the Jaguars' practice squad Wednesday.
Cottrell was cut ahead of Tuesday's roster deadline but will remain a part of Jacksonville's organization. The 25-year-old appeared in eight games for the Jaguars in 2020 but almost exclusively played on special teams.
