Backman caught two passes for 11 yards in Thursday's preseason game against the Raiders.
Backman is off to a good start this preseason with five receptions for 39 yards over two games. He is competing with Justin Perillo for the No. 3 tight end spot behind Richard Rodgers and Jared Cook.
