The Panthers elevated Franks from the practice squad to the active roster Saturday, ahead of Sunday's matchup against Los Angeles.
Franks was cut by Carolina on Monday before being re-signed to the practice squad, and he'll now suit up for the team Week 2. With Tommy Tremble (hamstring) listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Chargers, the Panthers were in need of additional depth at the tight end position.
