Phillips was forced to sit out the team's first practice of the week as he nurses a back injury. The 27-year-old likely suffered the injury during the team's 34-3 win over Atlanta in Week 2, a game during which he registered two total tackles (one solo), including 1.0 sacks. Phillips will have two more opportunities to practice before the Panthers travel to face Cleveland in Week 3.
