Hoyer agreed to a deal with the Patriots on Saturday that will promote him to the 53-man roster, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
Hoyer will serve as the backup to Mac Jones under center, as Jarrett Stidham (back) remains on the reserve/PUP list. The journeryman Hoyer last saw action on the field in Week 4 of 2020. He completed 15 of 25 passes for 130 yards, one touchdown and two interceptions in the contest.
