The Patriots placed Hines (undisclosed) on the active/non-football injury list Tuesday, Mike Reiss of ESPN.com reports.
Hines didn't practice during New England's offseason program while dealing with an undisclosed injury. The sixth-round rookie missed the final five games of his LSU career due to injury, so he may need additional time to recover before hitting the practice field with the Patriots.
