Head coach Sean McVay said Wednesday that the Rams aren't sure whether Kupp (ankle) will be placed on injured reserve, Jourdan Rodrigue of The Athletic reports.
Kupp was knocked out of this past Sunday's loss at Arizona with a sprained ankle that McVay relayed Monday was expected to sideline him for "an extended period of time," per Adam Schefter of ESPN. McVay also noted Wednesday that Kupp's injury isn't season-ending and won't require surgery, but the wide receiver will be in a cast for the next week, per Rodrigue. Meanwhile, the Rams have to consider their allotment of designated to return from IR slots, of which each team has eight to use in a given campaign. Los Angeles currently has 11 players on IR, two of which have been designated for return already, so there's a chance Kupp isn't placed on the reserve list even if he ends up missing more than four contests. With Puka Nacua (knee) out for the foreseeable future, Demarcus Robinson, Tyler Johnson, Jordan Whittington and Tutu Atwell are the healthy receivers on the Rams' active roster.
