The Buccaneers released Gregory (personal) on Sunday, Grant Gordon of NFL.com reports.

Gregory failed to report to training camp in late July, which prompted Tampa Bay to place the veteran pass rusher on the reserve/did not report list. Head coach Todd Bowles said Sunday that he never received a reason for Gregory's absence, though the 2015 second-rounder continues to be involved in a discrimination lawsuit against the NFL due to a $500,000 fine he received in 2023 for the use of THC. Gregory appeared in 12 regular-season games for the 49ers last season and registered 11 tackles (10 solo), including 2.5 sacks.
