The 49ers released Nkemdiche on Tuesday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
Nkemdiche's stint in the Bay lasted just three weeks. He'll have to look for another opportunity elsewhere, but in the meantime his departure should open up more practice reps at defensive tackle for Kevin Givens and Akeem Spence.
