Saints' Jamaal Williams: Logs eight carries in lopsided win
Williams notched eight rushes for 39 yards during Sunday's 44-19 win versus the Cowboys.
Williams once again handled cleanup duties in the Saints' backfield, as he tallied just two carries in the first half before going unheard from until midway through the fourth quarter. He also logged three consecutive carries before backup quarterback Jake Haener kneeled it out on the final offensive series of the game. Williams has primarily worked in garbage time in back-to-back blowout wins to begin the season for the Saints, as Alvin Kamara is still the clear-cut No. 1 running back after logging 20 carries for 115 yards and four touchdowns Sunday. Taysom Hill also tallied three carries before exiting with a chest injury that required further evaluation at a hospital postgame. Should Hill be sidelined moving forward, Williams could start to see playing time in more significant parts of games. His next opportunity will come at home versus the Eagles on Sunday, Sept. 28.
