The Saints elevated Austin from the practice squad to the active roster ahead of Sunday's game against the Lions, Ross Jackson of WWL Louisiana reports.
Austin signed with the Saints' practice squad on Sept. 2 after being waived by the team on cutdown day. The wide receiver will likely see minimal targets as he is set to be the fifth option. If Austin does see the field, the majority of his snaps will likely occur on special teams.
