Carson is slated to undergo disc fusion surgery on his neck and should be healthy "late in the spring," Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll told Curtis Crabtree of Sports Radio 950 KJR Seattle on Monday.
The news confirms Carson's season is over after the running back struggled to recover from neck soreness that first surfaced Week 5. Carroll's comments indicate Carson should complete his recovery from the procedure in time for at least part of the offseason program, but it'll be interesting to see the composition of the Seahawks backfield following free agency and the draft. Carson currently is under contract through 2023, while Travis Homer and DeeJay Dallas have deals through 2022 and 2023, respectively. While Carson remains sidelined, Seattle will continue to roll with Alex Collins as its lead ballcarrier.
